Hello,
my name is Shailah Red Elk-Ramos. I am a 33 year old mom of two, and I happen to be married to the hottest guy in town. Born and raised in the Lawton, Ok area, I am Comanche and Kiowa - Native American. I am a Cameron University Alumni and recently received my Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science - LPC. I am honored to work for Indian Health Services Behavioral Health Clinic providing therapy to the local Native American Demographic. I feel like I have covered the basics, now, let’s get to the meat and potatoes.
Some of you may know, but for the newbies I will recap a tad. I owned a boutique/art gallery that came about on a whim, really. The most beautiful things are unplanned and happen organically. Prior to COVID I made the hard decision to step away from my store in order to indulge in my family. I continued online and was thriving! Well, like all things, the unexpected happened… I got pregnant! With that I decided to step away completely and truly hone in on family and make myself a priority during my pregnancy.
Fastfoward, I created my second greatest, little masterpiece, his name is Nacona. After taking a small hiatus, I am back! There is a little spin to it, whereas everything focuses on my art. I really love this new version of The Native Hippy and I hope you do, too!
FUN FACTS:
Yes, I am married with the last name Ramos. However, I sign my art with S. Red Elk. It is very important to me to be recognized as a female Comanche Native when representing my art. Perks of having my husband as my biggest fan.
